A.D.D.

http://add.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=add&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amenclinic.com%2Fac%2Faddtests%2Fadult1.asp

ok, so one whore of a link, i didn't bother trying to figure out what was unnecessary.
Anyway, a friend of mine at work got 'diagnosed' with ADD, the other day, and she told me some of the reasons they believed she had it.
I recognized all of those reasons in myself.
I took to online searching for ADD tests to get a general idea of whether or not I have it, or i fit's even a real disorder.
i found this test, see link above.
It told me that it was Highly Probable that I had Adult Attention Deficit Disorder.
And all this time I thought I was just eccentric.
Please....take the test and let me know what it says about you.
Also, if you think this is a recognizable disorder.
Any and all feedback would be dreamy.
Sorry for the lame blog, but it's interesting once you take the test!
Peace Out YO!
Ian

yeah, i took the test.
it's very unlikely that i have add. this doesn't really surprise me, but of course online tests like this one always surprise me.

i have some experience actually with add, and how often it is diagnosed in children, whether this is warranted or not.

children are not typically diagnosed until they are at least 3-4 years of age and i have to say that in the approximately 10 cases that i know about, one child in particular stands out to me that without a doubt shows major signs of attention deficit disorder. the others? i think there are other problems that may be involved, ie: discipline, trust issues, etc.

i find it hard to see a child with add without seeing other issues as well that are not necessarily in the child's control. very indulgent parenting, or the opposite, very authoritative parenting is one that i see being a big factor in add-like symptoms.

add also seems to be a popular syndrome to have- i mean, you found an online test for it quite easily.

my mom has add as well, an adult diagnosis, and i know that her childhood wasn't as easy as it could have been. but it has helped her to at least identify past issues that she couldn't put a name on and whether or not the add diagnosis is the answer, she feels better about things now as an adult.

any diagnosis like add is hard to talk about. there will always be people that insist that they have it, and rightfully so, and there will be people that label themselves in order to excuse or explain their behaviour.

yeah i took the test. it said i was highly probable. it asked me to take a sub test - which i did - here are the results of what is probably wrong with me...

ADD Combined Type
Not Probable
ADD Inattentive Type
Highly Probable
Cingulate System Hyperactivity
Highly Probable
Limbic System Hyperactivity
Highly Probable
Basal Ganglia Hyperactivity
Highly Probable
Temporal Lobe System
Highly Probable

basically - i'm fucked.
but in all honesty...i do think i am just lazy and unfocused with shit i do. i just don't give a shit. i'm an indecisive guy. i wish i had ADD. that would explain a lot.
but - i just hate doing lots of work.
i want a silver spoon. i do.
and in many ways i probably have one. i only hurt for the things i don't have. any fuck ups - i can trace back to decisions i've made.
i'm accountable.
but i'm sure there's some things swimming around in my brain that are giving my laziness a hand.
and i do have "floaters" - which is kinda bothering me. they look like little bubbles that go buy - on my eyeball. i've had them since i was eleven. it usually means neurological problems.
nice eh?

i too took the test and it is highly unlikely that i have add... although i really wanted to have a label for all my weird qualities, alas it is not add.
